Thanks to the generous donations from Michelle Wang and another donor, Shorewood Elementary School in Burien received their first two Robiis kit donations! Wang is a software engineer who holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Computer Science from MIT. "Computer games, internet sites, and video games feel like they were largely marketed to boys, providing an earlier gateway for them to become interested in computer science in their own way," comments Wang. She loves that Robiis can provide the opportunity for all kids to have a fun introduction to foundational computer programming skills at a young age, and is more than happy to help by donating a kit.
Located in Burien, WA, Shorewood Elementary School has Kindergarten through 6th grade students. Their mission is to empower students to become lifelong learners who are responsible, caring, and contributing members of their community.
From Shorewood Teacher Catherine Gustafson: "I am excited to have Robiis in our school as a fun, interactive way to get our students involved in coding. As our world is changing and we have become more focused on STEM I think that Robiis are an excellent way to support this learning. It is also a wonderful way to teach young kids problem solving skills. I am excited for Shorewood kids to have the opportunity to learn important skills in such a hands on way."
We want to sincerely thank Michelle Wang for her donation and look forward to supporting Catherine Gustafson as she uses Robiis for STEM learning in her clasroom!
