How do I play Robiis?

How do I play Robiis?

To play Robiis you'll need an Android or iOS device with bluetooth, the free Robiis application, some tiles, and a Robii! The Robiis Starter Kits contain all you need to get started (other than the mobile device). See the Starter Kits here   1) First, you turn on your Robii and you connect it through the application. 2) Then you build a puzzle with the tiles. You can use the example puzzles from the Robiis website. 3) Once you've completed a few of the sample puzzles, you can start building your own puzzles! 4) After the first puzzle is made, place...

We've made a difference in the lives of girls and boys! And you can do it too!

We've made a difference in the lives of girls and boys! And you can do it too!

Last year we made a difference in the lives of these wonderful young kids at Boze Elementary. This year we want you to join us so we can reach more children and more schools! You can help us bring more Robiis sets to schools! We want to give children access to the education of the future. We want to teach them about science and technology while they learn other critical skills such as math, reading and collaboration. Our research shows that girls and boys who participated in our program increased their confidence with robots and programming, and most importantly it reduced the gap...

Why should my girl play Robiis? What does the research say?

The number one reason why girls love Robiis is quite simple: because it is fun! As it turns out, controlling a Robiis robot is quite exciting! And it is even more fun when the Robii is an adorable creature, part of an evolving game with a background story about equality and empowerment. The second reason is because playing Robiis could contribute to a higher level of motivation and confidence with science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Over the last 3 years, Play Works Studio conducted several studies which indicated that it is possible to engage girls in STEM with Robiis. In this post, we are...

Shorewood Elementary School in Burien, WA received two Robiis kit donations!

Thanks to the generous donations from Michelle Wang and another donor, Shorewood Elementary School in Burien received their first two Robiis kit donations!  Wang is a software engineer who holds Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Computer Science from MIT.  "Computer games, internet sites, and video games feel like they were largely marketed to boys, providing an earlier gateway for them to become interested in computer science in their own way," comments Wang. She loves that Robiis can provide the opportunity for all kids to have a fun introduction to foundational computer programming skills at a young age, and is more than happy to help by donating...

Expansion packs announced!

Expansion packs announced!

When we came up with the original idea for Robiis we gained inspiration from experiences that may seem, on first look, incongruent. But that is how creativity works; no idea is truly new, but instead a combination of preexisting concepts. Robiis is inspired by robots and the original Logo programming language; but Robiis as a game platform is also inspired by board games and collectible card games in which there are rules, superpowers and effects that define the base system, and a collection of new rules that evolve gameplay, make it more interesting and intellectually challenging. We want Robiis to teach...
