Frequently Asked Questions
How do I play Robiis?
You and your kids can play Robiis in a variety of different ways. The easiest way is to follow the intro puzzles we created. Click on the "For Educators" section and download the PDF file to get started! Your Robiis set comes with a robot, a set of 12 tiles, a character and instructions to download the free mobile app.
1) First, download the free app onto your phone.
2) Once you have the app, follow the instructions to connect the app to the Robii via Bluetooth.
3) Build a simple puzzle with your tiles. The easiest puzzle has a "Start" tile, a regular tile and the "End" tile.
4) Place your Robii on the start tile, facing towards the end tile.
5) In the app, program the movement of the robot. Your goal is to make it to the end tile!
6) Once your program is ready, press the "Run" button and watch your Robii go!
That's it! Now you can start exploring more puzzles, using the special tiles and build more advanced and complex paths.
Robiis can also be used to play multi-player games. Click on the "For Educators" section and you will find free lesson plans, instructional videos and more. Keep coming back as we are constantly adding new content! If you have suggestions for new content, let us know! We want to hear from you at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How old do I have to be to play Robiis?
Children as young as 3 years old can play Robiis as long as they have parent supervision. We designed Robiis to appeal to 6-year-olds, because we know from the research that this is the age at which children, and particularly girls, lose interest in science. 8-year-old children enjoy more complex Robiis puzzles and games and adults love Robiis too!
Robiis is for children ages 6 to 100 or more!
Do I need a phone to play Robiis?
Yes, you will need an Android or iOS device with Bluetooth to play Robiis. iPads and Android tablets will also work. The app is free and it can be downloaded from the Apple or Google Stores.
Do I need a WiFi connection to play Robiis?
No, it is not necessary to be connected to the internet over WiFi to play Robiis. The Robiis robots simply need to connect to a Bluetooth enabled device with the Robiis application.
What does Robiis teach?
Robiis is a fun robot game aligned with common core standards. Robiis can be used in the classroom to teach subjects such as Fictional Reading, Phonics, Writing/Speaking and Listening, Math, Geometry, Social Studies, Life Sciences, Computer Programming Fundamentals and 21st Century Skills.
Some of the basics of programming concepts taught are: implementing loops, if statements/conditionals, functions, recursion and more.
Players learn important STEM skills, like logical, procedural, spatial and probabilistic reasoning, and they learn them in the context of solving problems collaboratively. Most importantly, they are having too much fun to even know they are learning!
Can I use Robiis in the classroom?
Yes! We have created several puzzles and lesson plans that we will be making available for free! Click on the "For Educators" section and you will find the content. Keep checking as we are working on new lesson plans and instructional videos!

The IRS has guidelines here: https://www.irs.gov/uac/Eight-Tips-for-Deducting-Charitable-Contributions
If you click on the "Get $20 off" tab at the bottom of the page and share the link to the discount code with your friends you'll have a chance to earn a $20 off coupon. Once your friend made the purchase, you will receive a coupon at the e-mail address you provided when you shared the referral link with you friend. You can share via e-mail, facebook or twitter! It all counts. Once you get your coupon code, just enter it in the checkout when you make a purchase. Be aware that you can only use one coupon per purchase.
If I buy multiple sets, can I use them together?
Yes! Multiple players can have their robots on the same board, working together to solve more complex puzzles! The robots may interact with each other in a variety of ways, including trading items and effects between players, or colliding with each other (in which case, they need to try again).
What does the "Amount Raised" value mean?
This is the total amount of money we've raised during our pre-order campaign, much like the tracker on a Kickstarter project. We're also including a second, separate figure which is the total number of Robiis kits that have been donated to schools, to help alleviate confusion between purchases and donations.
